21
Report of the Harbor Master
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
Gentlemen & Madam:
I hereby submit my report as Harbor Master of the
ms Town of Mashpee for the year 1955.
be
;he Ten temporary channel markers were placed in Little
in River and on the sand bar, entering Waquoit Bay at Warren's
gay Point. These markers served two purposes:
ad. 1. To utilize the wash from the larger motor boats to
ful help deepen the channel.
2. To minimize the breakage in the scallop beds.
ing
Better markers are needed. They should be permanent
buoys instead of stakes. Buoys would provide better visi-
bility at night; cut down on maintenance work, and would
better withstand ice damage.
Some improvement in channel depth was obtained, but
this was only temporary. Dredging is recommended.
[ell Due to the recent hurricanes, there are numerous ob-
structions on the bottom. Many have been removed but the
larger ones still remain.
Respectfully submitted,
JOHN A. MOORE,
Harbor Master
