22
Town Landing Committee
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
The town now has several parcels of land that can be
made into suitable landings. One parcel at Hamblins Pond
would make a very good landing but at the present time
there are no funds to lay the parcel out.
There is another parcel on Great River, which needs
a road of several hundred feet in length to get to the lo-
cation. This parcel which is approximately 3 acres, adjoins i
other town owned property.
There is also a portion of marshland on lower Sage Lot
Pond which could be used after some work has been done on
it.
We have the Punkhorn Point parcel, which needs
fill to make parking space. The beach at Mashpee Lake and
the beach at Seconsett Island are in good condition, thanks
to our Park Commissioners.
The landing at Ockway Pond, should be bulldozed to
a make a road leading to the shore.
We should have public land on all our lakes and ponds.
We have Johns Pond, Ashumet Pond, Santuit Pond, Moody's
Pond, Jims Pond, Pimlico Pond and Peters Pond. We should
consider a landing on lower Mashpee River, near Muddy
Cover for the benefit of duck hunters. Amos' Landing would
be very suitable. We should have a landing at Great Flat
Pond, and one on Nantucket Sound.
We are in dire need of funds, to engineer and maintain
the landings that we already own. We hope the town will
appropriate enough money for the Park Commissioners and
the engineering department to do at least one landing this
year.
Respectfully submitted,
CARL AVANT
EMMA O. MILLS
MILDRED BLACK
Town Landing Committee
