<br /> To see if the Town will vote to amend the zoning bylaw by
<br /> 1 adding a new subsection 1.74-2 A.(1 ) to the Table of Use Regulations as follows:
<br /> "(15) Congregate care or assisted living facilities, subject to the issuance of a special permit
<br /> under the provisions of Section 174-4 ."
<br /> 2) indicating that such use is allowed in residential and commercial, districts by inserting the
<br /> letters "Sig" under the R-3, -5, C-11 C-1-SST, C-1_0 C-2 and C-3 columns in said Table of Use
<br /> Regulations;
<br /> 3 adding the following new definitions to Section 174-3:
<br /> "CONGREGATE CARE FACILITY — A facility for long-term residence, exclusively by
<br /> persons 60 years of age or older, which shall include, without limitation, living and sleeping,
<br /> facilities, common dining and social and recreational features, special safety and convenience
<br /> features designed for the needs of the elderly such as emergency call systems, grab bars and
<br /> handrails, special door hardware, cabinets, appliances, passageways and doorways designed to
<br /> accommodate wheelchairs and the provision of social services for residents which must include
<br /> at least three of the following: meal services, transportation, counseling, housekeeping, linen
<br /> and organized social activities."
<br /> "ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY — Similar to congregate care facility, but also includes
<br /> assistance with daily activities such as dressing, grooming,.ing, bathing etc. Also referred to as
<br /> board and care,.. i scare, continuing care establishments."
<br /> "NURSING LION. A non-profit or for-profit home licensed by the Commonwealth for the
<br /> aged or chronically or incurably ill persons in which five or more of such persons, not of the
<br /> same immediate family, are provided with sleeping accommodations, meals, nursing services,
<br /> medical care and personal care, such as the provision of aid to residents in walking or climbing
<br /> or descending stairs, in getting in or out of bed, in feeding, dressing, bathing or in other matters
<br /> of personal hygiene, the preparation. of special diets, the provision of tray service for meals, the
<br /> supervision of medication and other similar types of personal assistance. roes not include a
<br /> maternity boarding house, a facility providing surgical or emergency medical services, or a
<br /> facility providing care for alcoholism, drug addiction., mental disease or communicable
<br /> disease."
<br /> "CONVALESCENT IMF — A facility, other than aospeta., wherein �r compensation,
<br /> lodging, custodial care and nursing services are provided on a 24-hour basis for persons
<br /> suffering from physical infirmity or illness, other than mental or contagious, which is not of
<br /> sufficient severity to require hospitalization, or persons requiring further institutional care after
