i
Page 3 Special Town Meeting Aug 4/71
f
Floor:
Article 3 Ctd: I think this would present a serious fire hazard to
attach it to Town Hall. I think as Mr. Hicks pointed out the build-
ing should be separate. The ambulance is valuable property; but it
would do no good to protect the ambulance and burn down Town Hall.
I doubt if you could erect a structure big enough for the ambulance I
and also Civil Defense properties for $ 500.00 unless costs have
certainly come way down from ghat I have known them to be. Let's
be realistic about this thing.
Homeyer: For four years I was a member of a committee looping into
the building of anew fire station and new town hall® Why not put
up a building we can move off? Why attach it to this building? If
we build a new town hall. . . . .
K. O'Connell : It is now decided that this building will in no way be
attached. Yes, it is a frame structure and a frame structure could
be built for $2500.00. Grossman advertises such buildings every day.
We don't require a fireproof building. A wooden structure framed
a closed in would suffice.
arsters : It is my understanding we had some money from a fund.
It is not the $2500.00 we are asking for; we are asking for $2500.00
to supplement what we already have.
F. Hicks : you are referring to the Town Hall Maintenance account.
rsters : How much? Isn't it about $1500 to 2000.00? In other
words, you want $2500.00 in addition to ghat you have.
K.D.O'Connell : If we put an article in here for $3500.00, tomorrow
every bid we have will be for $3500.00 or over. This is why we with
o put $2500.00 in the fund. If we ask for $3200.00 for the job,
every bid will be for $3200.00. We have learned from experience.
Benway: I :Hove we raise and appropriate $2500.00 for the Town Mall
maintenance fund. Seconded. So voted.
Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate
or take from available funds the sum o $125.00 to establish an
expense account for the Board of Appeals. Submitted by Board of
Appeals® RECOMMENDED TO RAISE AND APPROPRIATE.
Garland: I move the Town raise and appropriate .the sure of $125.00
to establish an expense account for the Board of Appeals. Seconded. j
So voted.
Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate
or toe mom available funds the sure of $400.00 to supplement the
Dog Officer's Expense Account for the remainder of the year.
Submitted by Dog Officer. RECOMMENDED TO RAISE AND APPROPRIATE.
E
