Selectmen to petition the General Court for special legislation authorizing such sale or lease, notwithstanding any provisions of the General laws to the contrary; and finally, vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to enter into any agreements and execute any and all instruments as may be necessary on behalf of the Town to effectuate such transfer, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by Board of Selectmen Explanation: This article would authorize the Board of Selectmen to lease or sell to the Mashpee Water District approximately two acres of land, from an 11 acre Town-owned parcel located on Route 28, just north of the home of Mr. Karl F. Mills and the Madaket Place office condominiums, for the purpose of constructing a Water District office building. Motion made to dispense with reading of Article. Motion to indefinitely postpone passes at 9:09 p.m. Article 19 To see if the Town will vote to transfer those parcels of Town-owned land shown on the 1998 Mashpee Assessors' Maps as Map 21, Block 78; Map 28, Block 14; Map 29, Blocks 130 and 146; Map 35, Block 74; Map 41, Block 51; Map 42, Blocks 17 and 28; Map 33, Blocks 1,2 and 3; Map 34, Blocks 2 and 3 and Map 108, Block 32 to the care and custody of the Conservation Commission pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 8C, or take any other action relating thereto. Submitted by Conservation Commission Explanation: This article would designate certain parcels of tax taking land owned by the Town, located adjacent to the Besse Bog Conservation Area between South Sandwich Road and Cotuit Road, between Lovell's Lane and the Mashpee River, adjacent to the John's Pond Park Conservation Area, and on Hamblin's Pond as Town conservation land. The listed parcels on Assessors' Maps 33, 34, 35, 41, 42 and 108 are located within the boundaries of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. Motion made by Selectman Cahalane.
