Explanation: Under the 1997 Electric Industry Restructuring Act, Mashpee <br /> consumers are currently being charged for energy efficiency programs. Public <br /> aggregation programs such as the Cape Light Compact are allowed by the law to <br /> develop Energy Efficiency Plans to recover consumer funds and earmark them for use <br /> in the Town. Town Meeting approval is required before the plan can be submitted to <br /> the Department of Telecommunications and Energy (DTE) for review and approval. <br /> The purpose is to_achieve consumer savings in Mashpee, to protect the environment <br /> and to help stimulate the local economy. There will be no cost to the Town. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to approve the Cape Light Compact Energy Efficiency <br /> Plan and the Compact's submission of the Energy Efficiency Plan on the Town's behalf <br /> to the Department of Telecommunications and Energy, and to authorize the Selectmen <br /> to approve such amendments or revisions to said Energy Plan as they may deem <br /> necessary or advisable. <br /> Motion passes at 9:29 p.m. <br /> Article 22 <br /> To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to grant <br /> Commonwealth Electric Company an easement to install and maintain an underground <br /> electric system on town owned property, shown as Block 1 on Mashpee Assessors' <br /> Map 67, to provide service to the Boys & Girls Club facilities thereon, or take any <br /> other action relating thereto. <br /> Submitted by the Board of Selectmen <br /> Explanation: This article seeks to grant the Commonwealth Electric Company with an <br /> easement needed to deliver power to the new Boys and Girls Club located off of Route <br /> 151 in Mashpee. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Leveille. <br /> Motion: I move the Town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to grant <br /> Commonwealth Electric Company an easement to install and maintain an underground <br /> electric system on town owned property, shown as Block 1 on Mashpee Assessors' <br /> Map 67, to provide service to the Boys & Girls Club facilities thereon. <br /> Motion passes unanimously at 9:30 p.m. <br />
