s
Page 10. Annual Town Meeting - Tues 'ay March 6, 1973
r
Article 32 Continued:
From the Floor: Will the new vehicle be a four wheel-drive?
Green: Yes . I have calls at three and four o 'clock in the
morning that sometime have to be answered. They will ask even
is
them if I will come and take care of a patch of ice which is
endangering their lives . I can take this small vehicle and
some sand and go and fix it. Otherwise, you are going to have
to send a truck or trucks and two or three men to take care of
the same job.
At this point the Moderator called for the vote, and an
affirmative vote was given. The motion was carried.
Article 33: ART. 33. To see if the Town will vote
to raise and appropriate or take from
available funds the sum of $10,000
and transfer $6,000 from the Road Ma-
chinery Account for the purchase of
a road grader or take any other ac-
tion thereon. Submitted by Highway
Department.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
Green: I move we raise and appropriate the sum $10,000.00
and transfer $6,000.00 from the Machinery Account.
Garland: Inasmuch as the previous Article was voted down,
may I suggest taking all the money from the Road Machinery
Account and what are you going to do with the Grader you have?
Green: At the present, we are working with an A.C. Grader
on a rental from Alice Chalmers, since September of last year®
We have been paying $750.00 a month for the rental of this .
It seems that this is not adequate . This machine has done an
ample job for close to a year. However, we have construction
jobs and we have maintenance jobs . We already have approximately
$9,000.00 invested in the machine. We don't want to pi_xrchase
a new machine . I want to take that $9,000.00 for rental and
apply it towards a purchase price, which we can do® It is on
this basis half paid for.
Keven O'Connell : How _much_ money do you have in the Road
Machinery Account?
Green: $15,000.00
Keven O'Connell: Would you consider taking $14,000®00?
Green: In the light of all that has gone before, I would
like to change the amount to read $12,000.00 to be taken from
the Road Machinery Account, and $4,000.00 from the available funds ®
