Page 13. Annual Town Meeting - Tuesday March 6. 1973 I.
"Article 34 Contin.uedt Ax. Bain spearing)
Rising costs for everything mare it mandatory to act and to act soon.
The sooner provided for the better because the cost of everything I
is rising. Equipment and vehicle maintenance work is going higher
too. The police and fire could be housed in one shop. It is not
going to be long before a Town Department 'containing at least the
Highway and Park Department will have to be integrated into a
Public ,,forks Department. The first step for the provision of this
proposed new building for the Highway Department will be a first
step in providing for these things which ch surely must come.
fir. B gg9 $15,000.00 in fees being spent to get a new Municipal
Building and it seems things here are being done on a piece-meal
bases. I feel strongly that the article should be tabled because
we are not quite ready for it.
KY. Green : ,:,.he Building Needs Committee have been working very
hard on this thing. I have asked four companies to bring in
figures T have rece . ,-ed one today, and each one I receive is
higher then the one area have brought before th, people tonigNt.
We may be able to come up with something else . Rather then
fink out completely, I think a study should be carried out
a little further. Something must be done even if we have to cut
the building down a little, it would be okay.
I am concerned with coverage. I feel that: we can save save .a lot
of dollars . We can build a pre-fab building in seven days. Even
if we have to cut the building ten feet, okay. We can add on
iabln. The only thing is I don 't want to el innate the whole thing
altogether. We are getting more and more in. demand. I will
withdraw my motion at this time and hope to have more figures t
i
to bring before you later. As I said before , I have just received
another :figure of $85 , 000.0 , quoted. I hope I may be even to come
.gip with something better.
i
From the Floor: Do you mean better figures on maintenance
or a better garage building--or both?
Mr. Green: Both.
I
From the Floor : embody houses all theigA equipment.
r' Green: Most a l_1. on the Cape house all their equipment.
