4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> January 14, 2021 <br /> APPOINTMENTS & HEARINGS <br /> Public Hearing—Annual Informational Hearing on the Needs,Possibilities and Resources of the <br /> Town of Mashpee as they relate to Historic Preservation Recreation Affordable Housing and <br /> Open Space: (continued) <br /> In his letter Mr. Isbitz indicated there are land opportunities to produce additional housing stock. <br /> Several sites are worthy of being considered, and it is recommended the town move forward with <br /> feasibility studies to determine suitability for affordable housing. It was suggested the CPC <br /> consider retaining an ability to fund 1-3 studies over the next year at a cost of$30,000 each. <br /> Being no further comment,the CPC motioned as follows; <br /> Motion made by Mr. Larkin to close the Public Hearing. <br /> Motion seconded by Ms.Waygan. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 9-0. <br /> Roll Call Vote: <br /> Mr. Gottlieb,yes Mrs. Thayer,yes Mr. Hyde, yes Mr.Halpern, yes <br /> Mr. Larkin,yes Ms.Waygan,yes Mr. Harsch,yes Mr. Smith,yes <br /> Ms. Barbee,yes Opposed, none <br /> Review Discussion&Possible Action on the followingCPC PC Application proposed for the May <br /> 2021 Town Meeting: <br /> The Community Preservation Committee conducted a review of the CPC Application entitled <br /> "Acquisition of Gooseberry Island for Open Space"as submitted by the Conservation <br /> Department. <br /> Katelyn Cadoret,Assistant Conservation Agent was present to review the application which <br /> meets the criterion for CPA funding for the acquisition, creation and preservation of open space. <br /> Gooseberry Island is a unique piece of property a 3.8-acre island located in Popponesset Bay off <br /> Punkhorn Point between Popponesset Bay and the mouth of the Mashpee River shown on <br /> Mashpee Assessors' Map 100 as Block 6. <br /> Matthew Haney, Trustee of Gooseberry Island Trust was in attendance to review and make <br /> comment on the project proposal with the Community Preservation Committee. <br /> Chairman Gottlieb indicated the merits of the property both the pros and cons would be <br /> discussed only. There would be no conversations regarding the matter of litigation. <br />
