Ms. Milly expressed concern that Mashpee was seeking to fulfill a <br /> quota rather than addressing a need and Mr. Abbott confirmed that towns were required to <br /> provide 10% affordable housing, The Chair stated that-mLany moderate and middle income <br /> families were currently unable to afford housing on Cape, so there continued to be a need and a <br /> gap between the earnings and the expense of housing, affecting approximately half the <br /> population of Mashpee (paying over 30%of their earnings toward housing).
