Mr. Walsh inquired about the septic system and it was confirmed that it <br /> was believed it would be for the units on site only. The Chair added that there had been initial <br /> discussion about a larger system to tie in neighboring properties, but it seemed unlikely it woLlIcl <br /> be was a financially feasible option for the developer. <br /> Gregory Reduit, Taurus Drive, inquired about using the South Cape Resort parking lot for the <br /> development of the affordable housing project. Mr. Abbott responded that the parcel was too <br /> small and under some dispute for a long time. Mr. Reduit asked that there be consideration of <br /> the site as it was his opinion it was of equal size and would be further from abutters and Red <br /> Brook. <br /> Jim Sheldon, Gemini Road, inquired about the possibility of the'Town purchasing timeshare <br /> units for affordable housing. The Chair responded that each unit had multiple owners so it was <br /> likely not a legal option. Mr. Lehrer added that the master deed named hundreds of owners, <br /> requiring consensus for selling, and the Town did not anticipate that sort of agreement. Mr, <br /> Sheldon suggested that it could be a mutually beneficial opportunity and expressed concern <br /> about a large number of affordable units being located in one part of town. The Chair confirmed <br /> that the Resort had attended prior meetings. <br /> Peggy Mayfield, Taurus Drive, inquired whether the project was a done deal and the Chair <br /> responded that affordable housing was-not is never a done deal until construction begjIIs,_,heg-rm. <br /> The Chair added that there were many steps in the process, including 2-4 years to acquire <br /> funding for the project, suggesting the possibility of construction taking place in 4-6 years, Ms. <br /> Mayfield inquired when the neighbors would have had their say, that it was now too late, and the <br /> Chair responded that the Town identified the parcel as feasible for affordable housing. Ms. <br /> Mayfield felt that affordable housing should be built, but in the right location, expressing her <br /> concerns about the identified site's proximity to the neighborhood. Mr. Abbott noted that the <br /> Mashpee Enterprise had been covering the matter for many years, and all meetings had been <br /> publicly posted. The Chair stated that the abutters would be noticed once a Public Hearing was <br /> set by the Zoning Board of Appeals, allowing public comment as part of the hearing. The Chair <br /> suggested that the developer may reach out to abutters ahead of time. Ms. Mayfield expressed <br /> concern about lighting and it was noted that the ZBA would be addressing such matters. <br />
