Mash ee Inctusion and-Diversit Committee
16 Great Neck Road North
Aashpee, Massachusetts 02649
c. Visit from Ms. Field tentatively scheduled for October meeting, dependent on
funding.
Ms. Field is staying with Ms. Stevenson. The cost for her travel expenses is
$130.00.
Ms. Johnson-Graham noted we could pay her for her services, like speaking, but
we cannot pay for her travel expenses. In the request to the Cultural Council there
could be a line item for speaker, but travel expense cannot be funded.
Ms. Nadeau asked when the deadline was due for the Cultural Council.
Mr. Kupferman said it's not too late to get the submission for the visit, but the
money won't come through until next year. Aren't we looking for her to visit.for the
October meeting, next month?
Ms. Johnson-Graham suggested we write a proposal then request the funding. The
funding will not get through by the time she is here, but the cost for $130.00 could
be given to her at a later date, or we reimburse the cost. This is educational.
Ms. DeBoer noted the deadline is October 15, 2021 with review in November.
Denials are sent by December. Successful candidates will be notified at the end of
December.
Mr. Kupferman said that would be great if it's accepted, but what if it isn't? If he
donates his stipend to the Committee, that would cover the cost. The Committee
also has a budget, maybe only $500.
NEW BUSINESS
1. Resignation of Cheyenne Hendricks, Student Representative. (Do we need to
appoint a senior or do we nominate a sophomore next year to serve for two years)?
Ms. Johnson-Graham stated if we had a sophomore it would be more beneficial for the
Committee. Previously, you only saw them for a short time and then they graduate.
Ms. DeBoer also noted it would be better for their college endeavors.
Ms. Nadeau suggested their participation with the Committee could tie into their project
or something and could have the Committee's support.
Mr. Kupferman is wondering how we would identify a sophomore.
3
