2 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 2 , 2004 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS <br /> Department of Public Worts: <br /> Landscape Contract Discussion: <br /> Gregory Taylor, Director of Public works discussed the contract for <br /> landscaping services at various Town buildings with the Board of <br /> Selectmen. Mr. Taylor recommended the Board consider terminating the <br /> contract with MGM Landscaping and award and negotiate the remainder <br /> of the contract with the second low bidder, The Capes a er for calendar <br /> year 2004. <br /> It was noted that funds presently exist within the DPW budget to complete <br /> the necessary landscape work for the remainder of the fiscal year. MI <br /> Landscaping is under new ownership and the firm lacks the commitment <br /> of the previous company. They have not completed their contract <br /> obligations since November, 2003. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Green to terminate the 'own's landscape <br /> contract with MGM Landscaping as recommended. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Marsters. <br /> VOTE: Unanimous, 5-0. <br /> Motion made by Selectman 1 arsters to award and negotiate the <br /> remainder of the landscape-contract with The Capescaper, and re-bid <br /> the entire contract for landscaping services. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Cahalane. <br /> VO Unanimous. -0. <br /> Algonquin Avenue: <br /> As a result of the condition of Algonquin Avenue, and the impact on <br /> safety, the Director of Public Works recommended the Selectmen begin <br /> the process to convert the road to a public tray. The estimate for <br /> reconstruction is approximately $250,000. <br /> Financing for the road reconstruction would be assessed to the property <br /> owners by the Board of Selectmen through betterment. Financing could <br /> also be provided by Southport through mitigation finds required as a <br /> condition of their expansion. <br />
