i 3 Board of Selectmen Minutes January 26, 2004 APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: Al quip Avenue: (continued) Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to reserve an article on the Town Meeting warrant for the possibility of acquiring Algonquin Avenue. Motion seconded by Selectman Mar sters, VOTE: Unanimous. -0. The Selectmen agreed to schedule a Public Hearing on the conversion of Algonquin Avenue from a private way to a public way. The Board was in receipt of correspondence from the Fire Chief dated August 11, 2003 in concern that a reduced response time may result due to the road and its disrepair. Approximately nine potholes with a diameter greater than two feet are located along the length of the road, Transfer Station Contract Discussion: Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of Public Works discussed the contract relative to the operation of the Transfer Station. An RFP for qualifications for the operation of the Transfer Station located on Asher's Path was presented to the Selectmen for review. It was noted that the contract is exempt from the 30 process therefore; the Selectmen do not have to go out to hid for the contract. To date, the present contractor has operated the Transfer Station without incident. The Board of Selectmen agreed to re-negotiate the qualifications for the operation of the Transfer Station as contained in the new Request for Proposal with the present contactor. Motion made by Selectman Marsters to re-negotiate the contract for the operation of the Transfer Station in accordance with the proposed specifications ith the present contractor-for a period of 30 flays. If a new contract is not in place by March 1,2004,the Town wiu seek responses to the Request for Proposal. Motion seconded by Selectman Green, VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0.
