i <br /> 3 <br /> Board of Selectmen <br /> Minutes <br /> January 26, 2004 <br /> APPOINTMENTS AND HEARINGS: <br /> Al quip Avenue: (continued) <br /> Motion made by Selectman Cahalane to reserve an article on the <br /> Town Meeting warrant for the possibility of acquiring Algonquin <br /> Avenue. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Mar sters, <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. -0. <br /> The Selectmen agreed to schedule a Public Hearing on the conversion of <br /> Algonquin Avenue from a private way to a public way. <br /> The Board was in receipt of correspondence from the Fire Chief dated <br /> August 11, 2003 in concern that a reduced response time may result due to <br /> the road and its disrepair. Approximately nine potholes with a diameter <br /> greater than two feet are located along the length of the road, <br /> Transfer Station Contract Discussion: <br /> Catherine Laurent, Assistant Director of Public Works discussed the <br /> contract relative to the operation of the Transfer Station. An RFP for <br /> qualifications for the operation of the Transfer Station located on Asher's <br /> Path was presented to the Selectmen for review. <br /> It was noted that the contract is exempt from the 30 process therefore; <br /> the Selectmen do not have to go out to hid for the contract. To date, the <br /> present contractor has operated the Transfer Station without incident. <br /> The Board of Selectmen agreed to re-negotiate the qualifications for the <br /> operation of the Transfer Station as contained in the new Request for <br /> Proposal with the present contactor. <br /> Motion made by Selectman Marsters to re-negotiate the contract for <br /> the operation of the Transfer Station in accordance with the proposed <br /> specifications ith the present contractor-for a period of 30 flays. If a <br /> new contract is not in place by March 1,2004,the Town wiu seek <br /> responses to the Request for Proposal. <br /> Motion seconded by Selectman Green, <br /> VOTE: Unanimous. 5-0. <br />
