MASHPEE ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS <br />DECEMBER 11, 2013 <br />MINUTES <br />Shauna mentioned they will be offering optional bible discussions for all children to assist <br />with moral solutions. The other focus of their business is the professional boxing classes <br />that her husband will be teaching. The boxers will have to be USA Boxing Certified which <br />they are currently working on. The rules and regulations have changed and testing is not <br />currently available, and will require to register their business when they receive their <br />license. They will also be taking CPR and AED certification classes and scheduled January <br />28 through the 30`h at Nauset Regional Middle School. <br />Mr. Furbush asked if there will be a bathroom and changing facilities. Shauna said there is <br />a back room in the rear of the unit. Mr. Furbush asked how she would handle an emergency <br />situation if a child was "knocked out". She said there is no physical sparing allowed unless <br />they are self-insured and certified. She said the equipment will be speed bags, doubling <br />bags, and heavy bags. <br />Mr. Furbush asked if there is enough parking. Shauna stated there are six to seven <br />designated spaces in front and additional parking in the rear toward the road. <br />Mr. Morgan asked how many people will be in the facility at one time. Shauna said <br />approximately 5 to 6 kids. There will be the same amount of children and adults at one <br />time. Shauna stated the hours of operation will be 5:00 pm to 5:45 pm, for children and the <br />• studio will be open at 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm, and Saturday's 7 am until 9 am. Mr. Morgan <br />asked her to make an appointment.with the Building Department for the signage. <br />Mr. DeBarros asked if the studio will be open year-round. Shauna said; yes, it will be open <br />year-round. Mr. Goldstein asked if she needed to be certified to teach. Shauna said; it is no <br />different than a regular gym. <br />Mr. Furbush stated he attended the Planning and Design Review Meetings and the Board <br />approved the business and he does not have a problem. <br />Mr. Blaisdell made a motion to approve Shauna Lee Gonsalves (4:13 Boxing Studio): <br />request for a Special Permit under §174-25 (B) (11) of the Zoning By-laws (Table of Use <br />Regulations), to allow for an educational boxing school on property located in a C-2 Zoning <br />District at 22 Falmouth Road, Unit 8.2 (Map 55 Parcel 8), Mashpee, MA. (Owner of record <br />Merry Meadow Enterprises, Inc.) <br />Mr. Furbush seconded the motion, Mr. DeBarros, yes, and Mr. Goldstein, yes. All were in <br />favor. <br />Richard J. and Janet M. Cleary: Request a Written Finding under Article V §174-17 and <br />§ 174-20 of the Zoning By-laws and M.G.L. Chapter 40A §6 concerning alteration of a pre- <br />existing, destroyed or damaged non -conforming structure to raze and replace a dwelling <br />on property located in an R-3 Zoning District at 16 Spoondrift Way, (Map 111 Parcel 121 <br />• Extension 0-R), Mashpee, MA.
