h Community Preservation Committee Minutes December 2, 2021 Evan Lehrer Application: Housing Production Plan Update: $25,000 (continued) It is anticipated the Town Planner's Office would procure a consultant to assist with the HPP update. With the award of CPA funds in May 2022 it is possible the update of the plan would begin in the early summer of 2022. Completion is expected to take 6 months. At this time the Planning Department is undertaking the first component of the Local Comprehensive Plan. It was noted that additional funding opportunities may be available from the state if Cape Cod Commission funds are not secured. Discussion followed regarding the sufficiency and clarity of costs to complete the Housing Production Plan update. It is necessary for the Planning Department to work collaboratively with applicable departments to ensure targets are met, defined and certified for implementation to meet the exact needs of the community with a production goal of 30 units annually to alleviate aggressive Chapter 40B projects. Additional funding may make this a better plan. Creative strategies are of importance to create more affordable housing in this community. An approved HPP leverages state grant funds. At minimum $25,000 would open the bid process to secure quotes. The Community Preservation Committee was receptive to increasing the CPA funding request. The matter was taken under advisement at this time. Ava Costello Application: HVAC Unit for One -Room Schoolhouse: $19,680 Ava Costello and Richard DeSorgher were in attendance to review the submission of the Historical Commission for CPA funding to install an HVAC unit at the schoolhouse to consist of electrical upgrades and building repairs. The total funding request was $25,000. The revised budget is now $19,680. To goal of this project is to provide extended access to the One Room Schoolhouse by allowing more visitors, especially the children and the senior population. Controlling the air quality and temperature of the building will further protect, preserve and enhance the property of historical significance. The One Room Schoolhouse is listed on the National Register and as a Historical Place by the Massachusetts Historical Commission. It is also located in the Mashpee Historic District.
