Mr. Govoni read a memo from the a <br /> Planning Board recommending that the Board disapprove the project because of its <br /> potential negative impact on water quality,hazardous materials being allowed within a <br /> public well recharge area, noise, visual and property value. oia <br /> Mr. David Rich of the Mashpee Water District sent a letter that only requested"a list of <br /> hazardous materials which will be used or stored on the site prior to a building occupancy <br /> permit being issued and that the Town of Mashpee verify the storage of hazardous <br /> materials meets all federal and state requirement for storage of such material. A copy of <br /> the inspection report relating to the storage of hazardous materials should be sent to the <br /> Mashpee Water District". <br /> ' Attorney Mills acknowledged the concerns of the trailer park residents and said that he <br /> called a meeting at the Town Hall with several of the residents to provide mitigation. <br /> Mr. Govoni said that he checked with Town Counsel and said that the Board has the rightr� '�I�° <br /> to reject a Special Permit if it would have a negative impact on the neighborhood. <br /> ,4. <br /> Mr. Larkin, 5 Kettle Lane, addressed the Board and claimed that the proposal would have "' e <br /> a negative impact on the trailer park and on Southport residents. He referred to a Board <br /> of Health meeting at which"an expert witness"pointed out the "tremendous carcinogenic a��r <br /> impact"that the proposal would supposedly have on the area. Mr. Larkin said that the <br /> expert witness, Mr. Zarek, claimed that the proposal would have a particularly negative <br /> impact on senior citizens and children. He said that it"would not be right for this Board <br /> to approve this kind of permit" and urged the Board"to do the right thing tonight and to <br /> reject this proposal". <br /> Ms. Janet Souza, 20 Lakeside, expressed concern with increased traffic in the area. <br /> Mr. Charles Russo informed the Board that the"expert witness"at the Board of Health <br /> did not submit any documentation to prove that he is an"expert" in this field. Mr. Russo <br /> stated that he has been using certain chemicals for over 20 years and he does not have •a' <br /> any employees sick from cancer because of the products that are used. <br /> Mr. Russo said that the "expert witness" spoke about the use of chlorides being used as <br /> cleaning agents. Mr. Russo informed the Board that use of chlorides was banned in the "•rt;; <br /> 1970's and that, to his knowledge, chlorides have never been used in the auto body <br /> industry. <br /> Mr. Russo said that the "expert witness"referred to the use of lacquers.
