 .11a<sFpee ncrusion and Diversity Committee
.___wwww_...........M.M....M........_. ._.... . ........_ _....._..__.__.... ...__..... ..... ..... . ...... ...... . ...Z 6 Great Neck...R.oadNo... .
rth
Mashpee, MA 02649
OLD BUSINESS
1. Diversity Project
Amna, the Student Representative, is very involved in this project. The budget is under
consideration as COVID has actually reduced the budget need. Dr. Field and the students
are collaborating via Zoom. She is very kind in terms of limiting charges. Ms. Field is
meeting with the students who are writing the stories tomorrow 1/19 at 1:00p.m. Included
will be a photo of someone who emigrated, a story, and a QR code where you can hear an
audio clip of the person speaking. The date for the public presentation is May 22, 2022. Dr.
Field will make a presentation as well as a video of the students talking about the
experience. The predominant group will be students in the school. The goal is 10
presentations and the students will present their own projects at the public showing. There
is funding needed, two concerns were donations and a vehicle. The project is set up with
the school and the town. If anyone would like to donate, it can be done through the school
or town.
Ms. Stevenson also noted the teachers are overloaded with recommendation letters for
colleges that she came up with an alternative idea to involve the community. Maybe Mr.
Kupferman could help edit the students work. She will also place a call to the editor of The
Mashpee Enterprise to see if any young reporters would want to help in editing. This can all
be done over E-mail.
Amna and her sister were both interviewed along with one other student, but more students
need to be identified.
Ms. Stevenson would like 6 students in the school and 4 members of the community.
2. Future Meeting Changes — Day/Time/Length
There has been feedback about changing the meeting start time to 5:00p.m. Ms.
Stevenson has narrowed it down to the third Tuesday of the month. There was input to limit
the meeting to one hour. Does this work for everyone?
Mr. Klein would like to put it to a vote.
Ms. Stevenson did bring this up with Amna. As students are involved in sports or after
school activities, she would like Amna to find another Student Representative to join so
there could be an alternate if one student could not attend.
Ms. Hicks is retired and very flexible with timing.
Ms. DeBoer commented moving forward she would like to see Zoom as an option.
4
