6:09 181 Daniels Island Road, LLC, 181 Daniels Island Road. Proposed septic system RDA
upgrade.
Raul Lizardi from Cape& Islands Engineering, Inc. presented plans.
Agent said not much to add.
Assistant Agent read Board of Health comments.
Mr.Sweet asked if the leach field could be lifted and moved closer to the road. Would that
improve the flow and situation?
Raul Lizardi said one requirement is breakout separation. Grades cannot be lower than the
system themselves. A lot of things have to be balanced.
Mr.Colombo said he has the same concerns. Why not an I.A. system?
Raul Lizardi said an I.A. system doubles the cost.
Mr.Sweet asked if there are access issues for an I.A. system.
Raul Lizardi said if the tanks have to be removed there's a lot of hardscape that needs to
be removed. It does involve a lot more than a typical system upgrade.
Mr.Smith asked if he considers an I.A. system in a new lot to be less money than
replacing?
Raul Lizardi said yes.
Mr.Sweet motioned for a negative determination.
Mr.Dalton seconded the motion.
Vote: 4-1-0
Roll Call Vote:
Mr.O'Neill; yes
Mr.Sweet; yes
Mr.Dalton; yes
Mr.Colombo; no
Mr.Smith; yes
In favor,4; Opposed, 1; Abstentions, 0
6:12 Barbara B.Nichols, Trustee, 23 & 24 Melissa Avenue. Proposed hardscaping RDA
(landscape retaining walls) and relocation of required mitigation plantings (reference Order
of Conditions 043-3044).
Barbara Nichols, the homeowner, presented plans.
Mr.Smith asked why the two walls are parallel.
Barbara Nichols said one will be higher than the other. She also said they are asking to
move plantings to the construction area instead of disturbing the established lawn area.
Agent said he doesn't see issues with relocation of mitigation plantings. He recommends a
negative determination.
Assistant Agent read Board of Health comments.
Agent said he made an observation of the tall white pine that's buried with fill, it won't be
long before it dies.
Barbara said it has beetles, they plan to get rid of it.
Mr.Sweet motioned for a negative determination.
Mr.Dalton seconded the motion.
Vote: 5-0-0
Roll Call Vote:
Mr.O'Neill; yes
Mr.Sweet; yes
Mr.Dalton; yes
Mr.Colombo; yes
Mr.Smith; yes
In favor,5; Opposed, 0; Abstentions, 0
6:15 Michael J. &Jennifer G.
