a
{ Becky explained that under the monitoring plant they must
install and additional upgradient monitoring well. They
have submitted a request to use well B2 which is on the site
and have submitted specifications to Tom and they fit those
required.
They will take groundwater samples at 5 locations and
surface samples of the Mashpee River to produce their
report.
Tom questioned the relationship between the groundwater
contours being shown and the ones shorn on the GZA work of
1985 which are not the same.
Becky submitted an overlay of GZA map for Fields Point and
IEP' s groundwater contour map.
Torn stated that he was referring to GZA' s work for windchime
Point . He is concerned because the groundwater contours
change direction.
Becky stated that she will have to look at the data
associated with the map.
John stated that Becky will research the data and meet with
GZA and they will modify the map if necessary.
Tony stated the the Board will need a resolution for -the
contour map and substantiation for the reasoning.
Dave warden, biologist from IEP was present to discuss the
implementation of biological component of the plan. He is
suggesting an alternative to better meet the objectives of
the monitoring program. He explained that as written it
focus on botanical sampling -- plants of Mashpee River .
He suggests using the Macroinvertibrates inhabiting the river
bed. The EPA has established a protocol and the state has
a program on going. He recommends this because the focus
should be switched from plants to macro invertibrates
because they live immobile life cycle and impact to specific
location will be detected and they respond much more r eaiz3v
to changes in water quality have and they have short life
cycles . Plants respond less readily to changes inwater
quality.
They suggest 3 sampling stations -- upstream, downstream and
one where the plume is predicted to emerge . 1►hLy will be
sampled in early spring and late summer .
Louise stated that she would like a copy of the EPA protocol
and references .
Pat asked if this this is responsive to indivIA- ual spE--cimens
or the health of the community in general?
Rave responded to the health of the community.
Pat asked if there was any downside?
Dave said that there is not .
(` John Sokolovic s ta.ted that it is there irzt e L to : :r,pl '.T h
the monitoring program.
2 .
