Attorney John Fitch and Mr. George Thompson, 'Jr. were present.
Mr. Fitch explained that since the last meeting they have been
trying to make arrangements to get the water quality report
prepared and discovered the very heavy price tag involved.
Therefore they are not prepared with that report this evening.
They are going to ask several companies to bid the job.
They would like to discuss the Cove Road issue and to find out
exactly what it is the town thinks is the best way to improve
Cove Road. The definitive plan called for a layout of Cove Rd.
for 40 feet to the Sandwich Town line and a cul de sac to provide
access to lot 1. They do not know how the original decision (for
that level of improvements) happened, they believe that George
Thompson Sr. did not want to extend the invitation for traffic to
head down the road any more than was necessary. If the
neighborhood feels different they will re work i t. They would
like to terminate improvements at that location for just that
reason. They do not want to do anything detrimental to the
neighbors who are down there already.
Mr. Fitch explained that regarding parcel A. they have decided to
eliminate i t, merge into one of the lots.
Mr. Thompson stated that removing parcel A is part of a three
step process, if they have to continue the road to the end they
will keep parcel A and the turnaround.
Tony stated that he does not see the relationship between them.
Mr, Fitch explained that instead of doing a turnaround they would
just do an apron and grading,
Mr. Smith, abutter from Sandwich stated that the road is used for
access therefor it is a little late to be concerned about
traffic. Many people use Parcel A at night, a least 2 cars have
been dumped there . People go there to fish. It will take an
effort to stop it.
Everyone looked at the topography plan to determine where a good
ending for the paving of Cove Rd would be.
Tony stated the only downside to eliminating the turnaround is
from -a fire safety standpoint. However it is not a dead end. It
is not constructive to do that much damage to construct the
turnaround.
Judy suggested the transition area be placed where it is going to
last.
Tony stated in theory they have to pave 150 feet of frontage for
it to be properly improved. He suggested the applicant discuss
this with the Building Inspector.
2
