Tom stated that all he knows is that he is sure it has to do with
bringing Mr. Burtis ' s open rack storage into conformance. Now
the by law allows storage but in an enclosed building.
Marinas are allowed by special permit in a residential district
and the rack storage is allowed at a marina.
Louise asked how it would change the density and number of boats
stored?
Tom stated that the definition does not effect the density either
way, the height limitation in the R district would be the
limitation and the lot coverage.
Tony would like to know what other areas would be effected by
this, the other marinas in town.
Tom stated that a marina has to have frontage on a navigable body
of water in a R district.
Judy stated that it is inappropriate for a residential area, the
by law was written to require an enclosed building to be more
consistent with a residential area. It would be more appropriate
in an industrial area.
Tony stated that this brings to the Boards attention that a
marina could be created in a residential district. There is no C
or I zoning on waterfront. This may be a bylaw which should not
exist any more. The waterfront areas are fully developed as
residential areas .
Tom stated that there is a need for marinas and for the existing
marinas.
Wayne agrees that a marina is not appropriate in residential but
also agrees that there is a need for a good marina.
tinny Driscol stated that she is an opponent of the rack storage
and she believes the reason they did appear tonight to explain
the article was to by pass the system again. The Town of Mashpee
,has jammed this thing down their throat. They do not want it in
their residential neighborhood. To change the bylaw would be
wrong.
Tom. stated that in Falmouth they had a rack storage and insisted
it be enclosed and put a number of condition on it, they came up
with a way to deal with it. They accommodated it but with rules .
Wayne stated that considering no one person is here to tell him
why he should support it how could he consider voting in favor of
it.
Kathleen Ferry, Seconsett Island was present. She stated that
the neighbors did try to meet with Mr. Burtis to try to come to
5
