m
t
Louise stated that the betterment will be on the people living on
those two roads .
Mr. Blakemen stated that the way the petition is written everyone
will be assessed and he understands that it is legal to do it
that way,
Pat asked if the revised proposal will have a significant lesser
cost and have the neighbors been advised?
Mr. Blakemen stated that they do not have an estimate. He had
asked the Board if Mr. Rowley could review the situation. Until
the work is done. you don' t know what the cost will be.
Judy asked if they have the ascent of 50% of all of the
landowners who will be bettered? Is the petition signed by 50% of
all the people who will be bettered?
Mr, Blakemen stated that it is not, nor was the first petition to
have the town take the road.
One of the homeowners stated that he believes over 50% signed the
first time to have the roads taken.
The Board will check this issue with Town Counsel.
Mr. Hasse, 51 Edgewater Road. He stated that the petition has 11
signatures. They had a meeting of the association, the
recognized homeowners association, last night and voted against
Mr. Blakemen' s petition.
Paul Banner, President of the Association stated that they voted
to request the town to postpone the petition until they find out
more information on the cost.
Paul Pechian, Deerfield Road stated he made the motion at the
meeting. They want to kill whatever they could kill and to ask
Mr. Blakemen to set his petition aside until they can get further
information. They feel there is a huge inequity if everyone in
the association has to pay betterments for benefits they will not
receive. They want to find out firm costs.
They are requesting the articles be indefinitely postponed.
Jane Hasse, past President of the Association. she worked on the
original petition for the road taking. It took 5 years to do i t.
A lot of people are upset about what is going on now. Can a
petition with 10 or 12 signature override all those other
signatures?
Tony stated that it probably isn' t legitimate, but the Board will
check with town counsel.
He believes the situation should be given more time and more
estimates should obtained, more pressure should be brought on the-
town departments involved.
7
