IE
Mr. Pechian stated that it is the majority opinion that they
Would like the roads fixed and turned over to the town, at a
reasonable cost.
Mr. Bannon stated that the original estimate Was to do the roads
over entirely, they don' t think that is necessary.
Tony stated they must get together With DPW and came to an
agreement.
Mike Ford, property owner Santuit Pond Road, he stated that he is
also the president of Johns Pond Estates. He believes that
Santuit should not even be half of the $5, 000 (based on a
comparison of the road work for Johns Pond) . He sees that number
as extremely high.
Tony asked Mr. Blakemen if he Was in a position to seek
indefinite postponement of the article at town meeting?
Mr. Blakemen stated that he could but only upon assurances that
this Will be ongoing to lower the cast and get only the work
necessary done.
Tony stated that it seems best for the Board to recommend
indefinite postponement.
Wayne stated that the Board had previously made it clear that it
is not their authority to authorize taxpayers funds (Charlie
Rowley's review of situation) for the benefit of this one
subdivision.
Judy stated that the association will have to request the Board
of selectmen to slaw the process down.
Mr. Blakemen suggested that since there is not a DPW director and
$35, 000 has already been spent on engineering and legal expenses ,
since they have no one to turn to, could Mr. Rowley be paid from
these funds, Which Will go onto their bill anyway and get this
thing underway.
Tony stated that they could hire an engineer, could hire Charlie
Rowley independently. If they want to use engineering funds,
they Will have to discuss that with the Board of selectmen.
Mrs, Hasse stated that there is a person in the neighborhood, a
certified engineer, Who has volunteered his time to do the Work.
Tom Will confirm if the article is valid.
Wayne made a motion that the Board recommend the article be
indefinitely postponed. Louise seconded the motion. All Board
members Were in favor. 5--0.
8
