She also brought up a killing in California that involved an Asian person.
Mr. Kupferman did not have enough information to know if the comments were of political or
racial nature.
Mr. Klein stated there were comments regarding the ACLU. He will look into seeing if he could
provide members with the link to share.
Mr. Kupferman wanted to mention MIDC was tasked with addressing the local issue.
2. Coalition
Chair will be running the Coalition meeting on Thursday. She received a distressed phone call
from Marie Younger Blackburn over the mass shooting in Buffalo, NY. She wanted to know
why there weren't statements of outrage or response to this. She sought out Ms. Stevenson to
ask if she could bring this up at the Coalition meeting as it would be a great forum for
discussion. She will be addressing it. She wonders if it would be a good idea to join together
and make a broad statement from all the groups the Coalition represents. Could MIDC make a
statement? They are talking about Replacement Theory, which is the idea that non-white
individuals are being brought into the US to alter the political agenda by replacing white voters.
Our community is showing the value of the people who move into this country and become
members of this community.
Mr. Fand commented that we cannot be okay with these occurrences. The people have to
stand up and defend what is right.
Mr. Kupferman stated the man who was killed in California died because he charged the
attacker.
Ms. Stevenson took a moment to welcome Rowela Kent, an official member of the MIDC as of
the last Select Board meeting. The MIDC is at full capacity with nine members.
OLD BUSINESS
1. Diversity Project Update: May 26, 2022 at 7:OOp.m. —9:OOp.m.
Madame Chair hopes everyone will be in attendance.
