They are celebrating their 101 st powwow this year on July 4th weekend. <br /> She encouraged Mr. Kupferman to talk with David Weeden as he has the history. <br /> Mr. Fand is a part of the Mashpee Housing Authority that assists elderly and low income <br /> people in renting. These residents should be interviewed. <br /> Mr. Klein noted Homeyer Village, Asher's Path Apartments, and Breezy Acres are three public <br /> housing facilities in Mashpee. He suggests writing an article on housing. <br /> Mr. Fand commented he would have to attend but he will present this to the Authority at their <br /> next meeting on August 15, 2022. <br /> Ms. Stevenson acknowledged that diversity includes elderly and disadvantaged people or <br /> those experiencing hardships. <br /> Mr. Klein would also be curious to know the ethnicities of the people residing in these units. <br /> 2. Coalition: Pembroke <br /> Chair Stevenson is running a Zoom meeting on Thursday with the Coalition, and something <br /> happened that concerns all DEI committees. She was contacted by a woman from Pembroke <br /> asking how to start a committee. Duxbury and Hingham had this committee under the <br /> municipality, under the Select Board, and that was in operation for 7-8 months. Apparently <br /> someone on the Select Board did not feel they needed a DEI committee in Pembroke due to a <br /> perception of there being no discrimination or prejudices. Keep in mind the politics of this. <br /> There have been movements happening in the south, active groups moving into school boards <br /> and select boards. The Coalition was contacted and a letter was written on behalf of the <br /> Coalition that stated what towns had DEI committees. That Select Board then had a vote that <br /> 2 <br />
