3 <br /> *Tuesday,June 20, 2023 Charter Review Committee Minutes* <br /> five member select board. Elected town clerks are more service oriented. Ms. Kaye also handed <br /> out hard copies to the committee of The Position of Town Clerk in the Commonwealth of <br /> Massachusetts. <br /> Town Manager Rodney Collins explained that there needs to be accountability for the town <br /> clerks' sucessor and it's about the organization and there being a chain of command. I'm focusing <br /> strictly on accountability. <br /> Chair John Miller said this topic of department heads and town clerks will be revisited by this <br /> committee and asked if the Town Clerk would attend a meeting when that section of the charter <br /> is discussed. It's premature to speculate how the committee views this topic. <br /> Barbara Lynne Barbee, 73 Surf Drive, thinks it would be helpful to have in the charter goals for <br /> public participation. We should have a goal of reaching out to our residents using all technology <br /> and all means of communication. <br /> Shirley Highrock, 8A Alice Lopez Drive, said there should be a space reserved for a tribal member <br /> on every Town Board. <br /> Mary Waygan asked if the committee will be conducting another public hearing. <br /> John Miller said yes at least one, maybe several. <br /> Motion made by Carol Sherman to close the public hearing, motion seconded. <br /> Miller,yes Weeden,yes Collins,yes Furbush,yes Lewis, yes McKelvey, yes <br /> Myers, yes Sherman, yes Waygan, yes <br /> Vote: Unanimous <br /> The Committee also received the following email communication: <br /> Marc Whitman, 299 Falmouth Road, wrote that the Town occasionally has hot button topics that <br /> he feels should be on the ballot at a voting booth and not at Town Meeting. <br /> Michaela Wyman Colombo, 35 Meadowbrook Road, also wrote in an email the she recommends <br /> reverting the Finance Committee to an elected board; to not put term limits in to place; agrees <br /> that legal counsel should assist in review of the charter; fully supports an open town meeting; <br /> and supports including a preamble. <br /> Marjorie Hecht, 240 Hooppole Road, would like to see the ZBA elected instead of appointed, in <br /> hopes that is would reflect the community views instead of special interest groups. <br /> Minutes <br /> Final Approval of the Following: Tuesday, June 6, 2023 Minutes <br /> Review and Approval of the Following:Tuesday June 13, 2023 Minutes <br />
