power lines – after receiving no response from utility companies. In response to Mr.
Colombo, the applicant reiterated that the utility companies never responded about the trees
under the power lines. The applicant also contacted the DPW which did not respond either.
Regarding the potential for future power line problems, Mr. Colombo suggested giving
thought to the species chosen. The applicant concurred noting American Holly grows slow
– taking about 60 to 80 years to reach the power line. The applicant noted that the plantings
would depend on nursery availability and take about 3 years to complete. (The applicant
may have plans regarding the house which is not a part of this application).

Mr. McManus recommended a close and issue with the condition of submittal of a signed 3-
year contract with a qualified professional for monitoring and maintenance of all plantings as
per Regulation 12. This would need to be tweaked to make sure all new trees planted are
covered by the contract.

The applicant indicated that a well has been installed to ensure the plantings’ viability. The
applicant informed the Commission that there are still two trees that pose a hazard to the
utility lines which he has reported to multiple authorities. One tree is not on the applicants’
property, however.

Ms. Godfrey made a motion to close and issue with the condition of a signed 3-year contract
with a qualified professional for monitoring and maintenance of all plantings in accordance
with Regulation 12, which was seconded by Ms. Copeland.

Roll Call Vote:

Erin Copeland (Yes)
Sandra Godfrey (Yes)
Marjorie Clapprood (Yes)
Paul Colombo (Yes)

4 – 0 (unanimous)

6:06 16 Summersea Road, Nancy E.
