They have over 32 committees and still growing. They meet
via Zoom. She was invited to speak to Dennis DEI Committee as they are having a hard time
getting off the ground. Ms.
Stevenson recruits members for MIDC. From day one MIDC had student ambassadors and
that was through the relationship they built with the Human Rights Club through the Academy.
It’s also important that the town provide a secretary for note keeping.

Ms. Stevenson also got a request from Bourne to help with their Diversity Day. She found an
ASL person for Race Amity Day.

Human Rights Club – Diversity Day & Who We Are
The Human Rights Academy is coming up on May 15, 2023. It’s in Osterville at Cape Cod
Academy. It involves training for students on diversity with teens from different high schools all
over Cape Cod. The immigrant project went to Provincetown from an introduction that was
made at the Human Rights Academy. Who We Are is still going on and right now they are
interviewing families, they started with 14 but that number has grown. The Hall of Flags is
th
being honored May 10 at 5:00pm and there will be a reception. She would like some MIDC
members to show up. MASS Cultural Council granted another round for funding. The
immigrant project is on the docket for Cotuit Center for the Arts.

th
Diversity Day at the school was on hold due to COVID. They wanted to do it October 28
th
because it’s National Immigrants Day. On Sunday, April 30 a senior project is doing a
fundraiser at the Government Tribal Center and members from the Tribe will be cooking some
th
authentic Wampanoag recipes. That will take place from 12p-4p. On April 29 Barnstable High
th
School will host a memorial for NAACP for Cape Cod.
