4 <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> September 14, 2023 <br /> APPOINTMENTS &HEARINGS <br /> Public Hearing—Informational Meeting on the Needs Possibilities and Resources of the Town <br /> of Mashpee as they relate to Historic Preservation Recreation Affordable Housing and Open <br /> Space for the funding of projects at the May 2024 Town Meeting: (continued) <br /> The majority of Community Preservation Funds has been used on Clean Water Projects. This <br /> includes the Aquaculture/Shellfish Propagation program, Open Space Purchases, Stormwater <br /> Improvements and the Solarbee Water Circulators. <br /> Open Space accomplishments include 20 Open Space Projects an acquisition of 753 acres with <br /> 16 sites restored or improved. Several notable Open Space Projects consist of; <br /> Santuit Pond Preserve Land Purchase and Improvements <br /> Quashnet River Land Purchase and Restoration <br /> Chopchaque Bog, and surrounding Upland Lands Purchases <br /> Pickerel Cove Land Purchase (formerly known as the St. Vincent's Land Purchase) <br /> Historic Preservation accomplishments include 13 projects, 5 Sites Restored,and Historic <br /> Documents Preserved. Distinguished projects include; <br /> The Mashpee Archives <br /> The Mashpee Old Indian Meetinghouse <br /> The One Room Schoolhouse, exterior and interior <br /> The Veterans War Monument and The American Revolutionary War Monument <br /> Under the Recreation category 11 achievements have been completed. This includes the <br /> following; <br /> Heritage Park Playing Fields <br /> Pickleball Courts <br /> John's Pond Playground with Picnic/Shade Shelter <br /> The Mashpee Dog Park <br /> Attaquin Park/Mashpee Pond Playground,Basketball Court and Picnic/Shade Shelter <br /> Playground Improvements to the K.C. Coombs School& Quashnet School <br /> A Therapeutic Playground at the K.C. Coombs School <br /> The Mashpee High School Track&Field Project <br /> MM/MHS Tennis Courts <br />
