S <br /> Community Preservation Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> September 14, 2023 <br /> Public Hearing—Informational Meeting on the Needs Possibilities and Resources of the Town <br /> of Mashpee as they relate to Historic Preservation Recreation Affordable Housing and Open <br /> Space for the funding of projects at the May 2024 Town Meeting: (continued) <br /> Affordable Housing accomplishments include 12 new homes, 53 new apartments, 175 <br /> rehabilitated apartments, the rental and mortgage assistance program and the capitalized <br /> Affordable Housing Trust. Noteworthy projects include; <br /> The LeClair Village (950 Falmouth Road; ongoing) <br /> Habitat for Humanity homes <br /> The Mashpee Village <br /> The Homeyer Village <br /> Projects that combine the Open Space &Recreation category are as follows; <br /> The Great River Boat Ramp project <br /> The Edward Baker Boat Ramp project <br /> The Ockway Bay Boat Ramp project <br /> The Mashpee Community Park <br /> The Community Gardens <br /> Projects that combine Open Space Affordable Housing & Clean Water include; <br /> The LeClair Village; 39 units of affordable rental housing, 7 acres of open space and the Clean <br /> Water initiative of a required and enhanced wastewater treatment system. <br /> Since its inception in 2005,the Community Preservation program has assumed the debt <br /> payments from the former Land Bank. The Land Bank borrowed funds to purchase 621 acres of <br /> Open Space to protect the Mashpee River, Santuit Pond,the Quashnet River, Jehu Pond and <br /> Abigail's Brook as well as 274 acres that is a part of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. <br /> The Community Preservation Program has paid over$15,000,000 in Land Bank debt to date. It <br /> is anticipated the debt obligation would be fulfilled in 2026. <br /> It was disclosed the Community Preservation Committee makes its recommendations to the <br /> legislative body,Town Meeting. The application process is in-line with the Town's two Annual <br /> Town Meetings and the application process is therefore opened two times per year. The deadline <br /> for applications to be considered for funding at the May Town Meeting is November lst. The <br /> deadline for applications to be considered for funding at the October Town Meeting is April I" <br />
