Our new principal is from Brockton. It was
said to have been done for financial reasons, but they also recently had riots and police were
brought in.
Human Rights Academy
Dan Kupferman is on the Barnstable County Human Rights Commission, who sponsors the
Human Rights Academy. High schools around Cape Cod that have organizations that
advocate for human rights, come together twice a year to discuss issues. Our student
representative Ayesha Shafi is a leader who is heavily involved. A Mashpee student won an
award this year. It is important that these concepts and ideals have a space to be fostered and
supported. Who We Are was selected as a Senior Project. We are now up to 30 different
countries that are represented in this project and our town.
OLD BUSINESS
Logo
Simple Signs would charge $150-$200 for a non-profit.
Race Amity Day Planning
Race Amity Day is June 9t" from 12:OOp.m.-4:OOp.m. Amity is friendship and the concept is
interracial collaboration. All the speakers and entertainers are lined up. There will be fewer
speakers this year to encourage more opportunities for mingling and talking to neighbors. A
flyer will be circulated out to promote the event. They will encourage people to bring a chair or
blanket and note the event is across from the Town Hall at Collins Lot.
Mr. Kupferman is waiting to hear back from the high school students who will sing. The Chair
will identify some families to present from the Who We Are project.
Ms. Stevenson was contacted by a gentleman who spoke at The Cotuit Center for the Arts who
has created a children's book and wanted to present it.
Pamphlet Update
It needs updating, Chair will look into how it can be printed, possibly the school.
NEW BUSINESS
Childcare Town Meeting
This was one of this Committee's original projects, to provide childcare at Town Meeting.
