It went through the schools <br /> because this Committee had the Superintendent as a member. Town Meeting is May 6tn <br /> Community Input: Invited Guests <br /> Chuck Augit and Daphne Burt both responded to Mr. Kupferman's column in The Enterprise. <br /> Chair thanked them both for their responses. She noted a lot cannot be accomplished in the <br /> hour that the Committee meets every month, and a public comment period does not allow for <br /> conversation, but being invited as a guest allows for constructive conversation. <br /> Chuck Augit stated he has been on Cape Cod for 15 years and he doesn't read The Enterprise <br /> often. One of the primary reasons he doesn't read it is because he always sees something that <br /> will cost him more money. He also noted there seems to be a lot of bickering amongst boards. <br /> He periodically reads columns and he read Mr. Kupferman's column in January about new <br /> year's resolutions, and he took offense to it, he was offended by it. He tracked down Mr. <br /> Kupferman's phone number and called him to let him know why he disagreed. They finally <br /> spoke and he was asked to coffee. Three months had lapsed, and he found numerous <br /> concerning things and facts that weren't correct in his column. He also wanted documentation <br /> provided to him on where Mr. Kupferman came up with his findings. <br /> Mr. Kupferman reminded him that this is not a research paper, but an opinion column and he <br /> also has a word count he needs to adhere to. <br /> Ms. Johnson-Graham commented she feels the inequalities women face in the workplace. She <br /> said this is what Mr. Kupferman is trying to bring to light. She also feels this as a person of <br /> color. People don't want to talk about it. People want to shove it under the rug. She thanked <br /> her colleague for bringing attention to this, notjust for women, or blacks, but also people of <br /> LGBTQ. <br /> Mr. Augit continued that he has 40 pages ofjournals, credible sources, and context of earnings <br /> of women and why things are the way they are. He said overall, there is a lack of interest to <br /> take a job because family is the driving force that limits women. Women have a tendency to <br /> not seek managerial jobs because it will take away from their motherly duties. <br /> He discussed his second issue; the overall population breakdown equals 116% when broken <br /> down amongst groups. The percentage of white people is more like 58%, that excludes <br /> Hispanic or Latino. He felt like by being a white male he was being called a racist person. <br /> Mr. Fand added he could keep his mind thinking that way he is free to do so, but the best part <br /> about talking is there is no violence. <br /> 3 <br />
