Mashpee could look into with grant funds. It was suggested
getting input from Ted Lewis and Tom Cahir.
Sign Control : Mr. Dinizio expressed his support to EDC
and suggested getting all the interested parties together
to discuss and give their input. Those included would be:
Greg Taylor ( DPW) , Chief of Police, Bill Hauck (Building
Inspector ) , Bob Whritenour (Executive Secretary) ,
Beautification Committee, Design Review Committee. Mr. Dinizio
expressed his support for EDC' s efforts on this .
Enterprise editorial: Criticism about moving too fast and
the pineapple symbol was noted; this was deferred to the next
meeting.
Employment Ads; Wayne was to have contacted the Mashpee
Enterprise but there was a faxing problem. He reviewed the
format for the ad. Paul suggested a format change for
indoor/outdoor. and part/full time which was accepted. A motion
was made, seconded, and .unanimously voted to accept this new
ad and have Wayne initiate it.
Paul reported that we are ready for CCS World to install the
software. Wayne will follow this up.
Wayne presented several ideas for the Mashpee Guidebook (per
his handout ) , and the Committee was supportive. His records
show that 120 were sent out. He suggested transferring this
task to clerical staff for more accurate accounting of
distribution. Discussion occurred about future advertising
in the Banker and Tradesmen and Chamber of Commerce. . Tom
suggested sending out surveys to the 120 and canvas information
with Wayne doing some of the follow up calls. Wayne talked
to the owner of Sun Storage re; his seeking a 100, 000 sq. ft.
build out. Wayne has been trying to help with the pre-permitting
process. ' Wayne noted that we have . a say about what types of
businesses we will help.
I
Tom suggested inviting Dr. Halbersten from the MBL in Woods
Hole in an effort to attract the environmentally controlled
farming and fishing industries to Mashpee. Wayne will call
and follow this up. It was also suggested to contact Hearth
n ' Kettle and ask them if they want another site for
indoor fish and shellfish farming ( i .e. Industrial Park) . Mr.
Dinizio suggested gathering a list of businesses Mashpee wants
to attract, and it was noted that this is the Consultant ' s job.
The quarterly "Welcome" meeting for new business was supported
by the Committee, and the third Wednesday of each month was
suggested beginning in September. This will be formalized after
Wayne knows his teaching schedule.
-3-
