This would be a creation by legislation and the Town. Bob W. <br /> supports the idea , and he is prepared to submit an Article for <br /> Town Meeting. We should request the 11-acre parcel also. <br /> Wayne will ask Bob W. if we are ready to do a PR Release on <br /> EDIC. <br /> Thomas and Betts have to clean up Augat , plus they owe money <br /> to Willowbend. <br /> Wayne circulated a Proposal for an Interactive Visitors <br /> Information Project ( I-VIP ) requesting $13 ,700 (the total project <br /> budget is $23 ,460 ) . The I-VIP grant was submitted to the County <br /> Commissioners , and there will be a hearing in January. <br /> The goal is to be in the Augat building within nine months and <br /> lease out space to three anchor tenants who pay rent. The <br /> building contains 83 ,000 sf on 13 acres . <br /> Wayne plans to conduct a public forum to discuss bringing local <br /> economic development to Mashpee. Fred stated be prepared for <br /> opposition regarding waste water treatment and concerns about <br /> the Mashpee River. <br /> Wayne asked EDC for direction on what to request for the FY2000 <br /> budget. There is $9 ,000 remaining from the FY99 budget. We <br /> will have to raise the money for the Forum. EDC decided to <br /> increase the budget and ask for $40 ,000. <br /> The Tourism and Marketing Sub Committees were shelved so that <br /> the EDC can concentrate on Augat and the Business Forum 99 . <br /> Marty H. will be meeting with Mary Greendale and Bob W. about <br /> Ready Resource Funds ( $1 million which are easy to access ) . <br /> There is grant money available for contaminated projects under <br /> the Brownsfield Act , possibly $500 , 000. <br /> OLD BUSINESS: There was none. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> The motion to establish an EDIC and work toward its approval <br /> at Town Meeting passed unanimously. <br /> The motion to actively pursue Thomas and Bett ' s proposal (to <br /> the benefit of the Town) passed unanimously. <br /> Marty H. will call Bob W. to put this on the Selectmen ' s meeting <br /> agenda. <br /> Fred noted that $32 ,000 of tax revenue will be coming off the <br /> tax roll ; we will need a convincing arguâ–știent . <br /> -2- <br />
