i
r
'MINUTES June 24, 1999 3 BOARD OF HEALTH
Mr. Vital responded, "Everything is pre-packaged and does not require
refrigeration. I also have a canopy to keep them out of the sun."
Mr. McQuaid added, "The only time the Board of Health has permitted any type
of food product to be sold at Dick & Ellie's were farm-grown products. It was an
opportunity for farmers to sell their products somewhere where there was no
other outlet. My point is that the only reason why the Board permitted these in
the past is that they were an outlet for something where there is no other
outlet. You can buy Slim Jims, coffee, tea, and gum at any number of places in
town. I am somewhat leery of allowing this without some kind of justifiable
reason. On the other hand, it is the last year of Dick & Ellie's.
Mr. Cram motioned to deny the request. There was no second. Discussion and
vote will be continued until a full Board is present to decide.
APPOINTMENT Herbie Perreira reproduce sales at Dick & Ellie's Flea Market
Mr. Perreira was in attendance for this appointment.
Mr. Perreira stated, "Recently you approved the request of an applicant for
produce sales at the Flea Market. He has been unable to get a refrigerated
truck and I would like to sell produce out of my refrigerated trucks. I also run a
produce business and the product is extremely fresh. Most of the fruits will be
native, but not all of them. The operation will be done with mulch on the
ground, running water, under a new tent, stock in the refrigerated truck."
Mr. Cram motioned to deny the request. There was no second. Discussion and
vote will be continued until a full Board is present to decide.
4. Application for Food Service Permit - Contrast
Mr. Cram motioned to grant a 1999 Food Service Permit to Contrast following
inspection by the Board of Health. Mr. Ball seconded the motion. Motion
passed.
5. Co of Letter from DEP re: Landfill closure grant
Board acknowledged.
6. Comprehensive Plan meeting: 7/7/99
Board acknowledged.
7. Memo from Town Administrator re: fee review
Board acknowledged.
8. Letter from Mr. Edward Baker re: Denitrification Regqlation
Board acknowledged.
9. Copy of letter from Ethics Commission to Town Counsel re: Rule of Necessit
Board acknowledged.
