4.Septic System Status. The Cape Cod Commission has rejected the plan to have the Senior Center <br /> septic system linked up to Mashpee Commons, because the Senior Center does not represent <br /> regionalized usage. Ernie Virgilio reported that he has been working diligently toward resolving the issue. <br /> Ernie, along with a Coastal engineer and Glenn Harrington have a meeting next week in Taunton with the <br /> DEP to discuss a waiver that may be required for hookup to the Mashpee Commons septic system. A <br /> pumping station will be required for the septic system to service the Police, Fire, Boys& Girls Club, and <br /> Senior Center. <br /> 5.Permanent electric power will soon be installed on the site. There will bean additional cost of$3,789, <br /> an estimate from Statewide, for a 6' x 6' manhole to take three wires through the complex. This will come <br /> out of contingency funds. <br /> 6.The Water Dept. is billing the Senior Center$2,544 for hookup, including a$500 development charge, <br /> $1500 for meter installation, $120 for a fire sprinkler connection, and a one-day$120 inspection fee. The <br /> committee unanimously approved the use of contingency funds to pay for the Water Department hookup <br /> fees, and the permanent electric power installation fees. <br /> 7. Iry reported that a meeting was held last week with the contractor and Hufcor re: installation of the <br /> three movable partitions. The contractor, before completion of the building, must install the track for the <br /> partitions. As soon as a contract is signed with Hufcor for purchase of the partitions, Hufcor will supply <br /> the contractor with necessary drawings showing how the track should be installed. <br /> STUDY PROJECTS <br /> Furnishings. Jim Long reported. <br /> 1.0ptions and bids on finishings for the three movable partitions have been received from Hufcor. The <br /> most expensive material bid was $21,350; the bid for the least expensive material, vinyl, was $18,450. <br /> Hufcor has recommended the use of the vinyl material. The furniture subcommittee has approved <br /> selection of vinyl color#236, Beach. Ed Adams moved that the Senior Center Building Committee <br /> approve procurement of the Hufcor vinyl color#236 for the partitions, at a cost of$18,450. Harold <br /> Klegman seconded the motion. The committee unanimously approved the motion. <br /> 2. One furniture company has been to the Senior Center, and another one is coming tomorrow. Jim is <br /> still waiting to hear from W.B. Mason. Sample chairs from the furniture companies are now available at <br /> the Senior Center for inspection by the committee. <br /> 3.Susan Gray recommended the Peabody Furniture Company as another good alternate source of <br /> possible furniture for the new Senior Center. Jim will contact Peabody to investigate. <br /> 4.Next step: the furniture subcommittee will bring three furniture company packages with bids to the <br /> Building Committee for a final decision. <br /> Landscaping. Ed Adams reported. <br /> 13he fact-finding session with the Mashpee Commons has been re-scheduled for Wednesday, July 7h, <br /> at 2:30 PM to determine what Mashpee Commons will do for the Senior Center. Discussion may include <br /> the topic of irrigation, landscaping, installation. The committee has agreed that the new Senior Center <br /> should have its own well. <br /> 2. Ed reported that Bud Abbott had discovered that the fountain for the patio area was not going to be <br /> donated to the Senior Center. After discussion about the cost to purchase a fountain ($1400), and the <br /> added expense to provide 2800 feet of electrical wiring, a concrete base, and a pump for a fountain, the <br /> committee decided against having a fountain. An urn or sculpture can be substituted for use in the <br /> meditation area,with benches for seating. <br /> 3.Ellis Allen, Dick and Jane Capellotti presented their landscaping plan to the Committee. The plan <br /> includes 20,000 square feet of lawn that will require irrigation, which backs up to the wooded area behind <br /> 2 <br />
