TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of July 12, 2004 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Irving Goldberg Ernest Virgilio, Clerk of the Works <br /> Harold Klegman Jim Long, Director, COA <br /> Arthur Weinstein Joyce Mason, Town Administrator <br /> Betty Nichols <br /> Jean Noussee <br /> Ed Adams <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:30 PM. <br /> REVIEW OF MINUTES <br /> The committee unanimously approved the minutes of the meeting of 6/28/04. <br /> BILLS <br /> Chairman Irving Goldberg reported receipt of the following bill: <br /> 1. Clerk of the Works, $2,640.00 for 66 hours covering the period from 6128/04 thru 7/10-04. <br /> After review of the bill, the committee approved payment and signed off on the bill. <br /> REPORTS <br /> Clerk of the Works. Ernest Virgilio reported that plumbing installation is continuing. HVAC <br /> systems have been placed on the catwalks, ductwork is being installed. Contractor has <br /> numerous crew problems, including the framer, who quit. Shingling outside will go slowly. Front <br /> entry still is in production. The new concrete columns have been rebuilt. Electric line from the <br /> Boys &Girls Club is 60% completed. The electrician's trailer will be moved to the other side of <br /> the Fire Station. One more electric light pole is to be installed. The contractor feels that he is 30 <br /> days behind schedule. Ernie stated that the building looks good, the structure and materials are <br /> of good quality. The septic system issue, still not resolved, is the problem taking a lot of time. <br /> Until the building is closed in and internal walls are installed, the sprinkler, audio and security <br /> systems cannot be installed. <br /> Grant Manager. No report. <br /> Site Meeting. Iry reported that problems mentioned in Ernie's report are being addressed. <br /> There will be no site meeting on 7/26/04. <br /> PROJECTS. <br /> Furnishings-Jim Long. Chair samples from several furniture companies are available at the <br /> Senior Center for viewing and trying out. The signage colors have been approved. An additional <br /> Senior Center ladder sign will be added to the existing Police Dept., Fire Dept., and Boys&Girls <br /> Club sign by Rt. 151 by the entrance to the complex. A Wholesale Blinds company is being <br /> contacted for bids on window treatments. The committee hopes to find local volunteers to sew <br /> the valences for the windows. <br /> Landscaping-Ed Adams. Ed reported that he, along with Bud Abbott and Harold Klegman, <br /> met at Mashpee Commons with Jim Vaccaro, Russell Preston and Ellen Merrit, a local landscape <br /> architect. Mashpee Commons presented its"grand scheme". They plan to go directly across Rt. <br /> 151 from Jobs Fishing Road, create a circular entrance, with landscaping all around it. Mashpee <br /> Commons will assume the cost of a well, an irrigation system, and hook up the septic system for <br /> the Senior Center, provided the Cape Cod Commission will give them credits.
