does not approve the septic hookup, Mashpee Commons will still give us the well and an
irrigation system. The Town has an RFP out for hooking up a septic system. It is also possible
that the Senior Center could hook up with the existing Boys and Girls Club septic system, which
is underutilized. Joyce Mason stated that it looks favorable that the Cape Cod Commission will
approve the septic hookup with the Mashpee Commons.
The Jobs Fishing Road connector will be paid for by Mashpee Commons provided the Cape Cod
Commission gives them credits.
Ed reported that ads in the Mashpee Enterprise and the COA Newsletter have resulted in four
good prospects for tree donations. The landscape committee will meet again in two weeks with
Mashpee Commons representatives. Ed also reported that the committee has pared down the
list of plantings for the landscaping plan.
Decorations—Iry Goldberg. Iry reported that the Senior Center grand opening party has been
added to the list of things to work on. Jim Long will be involved in these plans. Iry also stated
that a sewing work group has been identified for making the window valences.
FUND RAISING.
Two problems have surfaced.
1)Movable partitions. The committee has already selected and identified the partitions, and
FMSC is buying the partitions. We have drawings from the partition vendor that have been
given to Ernie, to review with the contractor. The JCA generic design will not work without slight
alterations by any vendor selected.
2) Fireplace and Case Work. The drawings require that under the contract a flu for the fireplace
is to be installed. JCA did not tell the heating and A/C crew to install a flu. The flu requirement is
showing in the drawings but is not included in the heating and A/C specifications.
The committee agreed unanimously to select the dark brown color for the partition frames. JCA
will be contacted to give confirmation of the dark brown color.
The next meeting of the Senior Center Building Committee is scheduled for Monday, July 26,
2004, 1:30 PM at the Mashpee Town Hall, Conference Room 2. As there was no further
business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:30 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Y
Ina G. Schlobo
Recording Secretary
