1
• Contingency Fund...In good shape. When the building is completed we may be able to the
the bathrooms.
• Cape Cod Light Compact...has committed a grant for$3325
• $5,000. donation from Mashpee Commons for the well and irrigation is going directly to the
Friends, who will contract for the work.
Jim Long provided a "Usage of Building" list that showed all those who have used the Senior Center
this past year. Three questions posed to Sharon follow, along with her responses:
(1) What is a Senior? Sharon responded: 60 years and older.
(2) What is a Senior group meeting? Sharon said if offered only to Seniors, then it's a Senior
meeting, but if offered to Community, then it's a Community meeting, not Senior.
(3) How many people of the Senior gender comprise a Senior meeting? Sharon noted if you had
an inter-generational program for Seniors that included, say, the Girl Scouts participation,
that's okay...it's a Senior Meeting.
Sharon said the Grant specifies that the Senior Center is to be used by Seniors for five years. She
explained that once you open up the building to the community then it becomes a Community center,
not a Senior center. Sharon stated she would ask Joyce to put a letter together clarifying the situation.
Site Meeting–Irving Goldberg
-Currently the parking lot is being leveled and filled, pending installation of base coat for the parking
lot, which should happen next week, weather permitting.
-Air conditioning evaporating units are being installed outside the building.
-Skylight is installed and looks excellent.
-All wallboard is up and is being painted now.
-Rails were installed for the partitions.
-Millwork is being installed. Fabrics and choices they made
are in same price category so Jim will execute an order by the end of this week.
-Lounge area...got clarification on fabric. Jim hopefully will execute order by end of this week.
-Jim Long will inquire about chairs coming unboxed. W. B. Mason is the leader, price-wise. Some of
the desk sets were about$150 per set. Jim will try to negotiate for no installation charges.
-A task chair, similar but with less options, has been chosen because of much lower price.
-Jim received specs from Peter Welch to install 77 different blinds for$750. The wholesale price for
the blinds has not yet been received.
-Jim has requested a$15,000 assignment from FMSC to cover furniture costs if we go over budget.
Sharon Travers-Gay requested that a plaque be placed somewhere in the new Senior Center to show
that the building was partially funded by the Grant. Iry will talk with Joyce about having a plaque.
2
