r
TOWN OF MASHPEE
SENIOR CENTER BUILDING COMMITTEE G/f r",•u zg p8 4.
Minutes of the Meeting of Monday, November 22, 2004
Committee Attendees: Also Attending:
Irving Goldberg Jim Long, Director, COA
Ed Adams Ernest Virgilio, Clerk of the Works
Harold Klegman
Arthur Weinstein
Jean Noussee
Chairman Irving Goldberg called the meeting to order at 1:35 PM.
REVIEW OF MINUTES
The Committee unanimously approved the minutes from the meeting of November 1, 2004.
BILLS
Chairman Irving Goldberg reported receipt of the following four bills for Committee approval:
1. . STG Consultants-$2,645. This includes$1760 for project implementation from 9/17/04
thru 11/16/04, and$885 for project implementation from 9/17/04 thru 10/17/04.
2. Clerk of the Works-$2400, for 60 hours of service from 11/03/04 thru 11119/04. $2600
now remains in the account of Clerk of the Works.
3. J.D. Daddario-$63.16, covering purchase of final parts for the underground sprinkler
system
4. Ellis Allen -$223.00, for plastic water containers for watering the newly planted trees
After review of the bills, the Committee unanimously approved payment and signed off on them.
REPORTS
Grant Manager. In the absence of Susan Gray, Irving Goldberg reported that things are status
quo. He gave a quick financial summary: our last total added scope bill is $9,977. Against that is
an $8,539 added scope, and a credit of$7,965.
Clerk of the Works—Ernest Virgilio. Ernest Virgilio reported that the contractor has 21
incomplete items outstanding. The completion stages are single-man projects: one painter, one
floor installer, one plumber, one electrician, one carpenter, etc. Quality control is good, but the
contractor will need additional time to complete these outstanding projects. Ernest Virgilio
estimated a realistic occupancy date of December 20th. The sewer line currently is being
installed. Town Counsel and Mashpee Commons counsel still have not agreed on a legal
contract covering the connection. The DEP cannot approve the installation without a signed
contract.
Outside Work Issues:
(1) An area of the sidewalk was patched when the contractor ran out of insufficient concrete. As
a result, we have a 2-year guarantee on the patched sidewalk area.
(2) Paving of the parking lot should be completed next week, assuming there are no freezing
temperatures. If there is a freeze, the contractor will have to give us a 2-year guarantee on
the blacktop as well as the line painting.
(3) Topsoil job cannot be completed because it is too late in the season. If muddy, or if frozen, it
can't be laid. An additional 100 yards of topsoil will be needed. It is recommended that a
completion date be incorporated into the agreement.
1
