the trailer is not very spacious, and steps to the trailer are not too stable and could prove to be a safety <br /> factor, it was decided that the Building Committee meetings would continue to be held at Town Hall. <br /> Three site problems outstanding at the moment are: <br /> (1) the need for an electrical source at the site, both temporary and permanent. NSTAR will be coming <br /> out on Feb. l dh to investigate. <br /> (2) It has been determined that the Senior Center sign at the site is illegal, as the DHCD and the <br /> Governor of the State are not recognized. Sharon Travers-Gay will approve an amended sign to be <br /> prepared by JCA, and added to the bottom of the current sign,which will recognize both the DHCD and <br /> the Governor of Massachusetts. <br /> (2) There is a test boring well in the center of the parking lot, which will be removed this week. <br /> Two items, deleted from the design, are to be deleted from site report: a waterproofing requirement for <br /> the foundation, which we don't have, and the drain from the flat portion of the roof, which will be <br /> unnecessary. <br /> Budget. There have been no changes to the budget since the last meeting. <br /> STUDY PROJECTS. <br /> Iry put together a schedule of four study projects, each of which will need to be overseen by a member or <br /> members of the Building Committee. <br /> • Furnishings—Jim Long and Jean Noussee <br /> • Landscaping - Ed Adams <br /> • Irrigation—Harold Klegman and Art Weinstein <br /> • Decorations/Selections - Iry Goldberg with input from entire committee <br /> • Security Systems -Art Weinstein <br /> Furnishings: Jim Long reported that he toured one Senior Center with Rick Kelleher, W.B. Mason rep. <br /> He also met with Linda Thorpe, a local furnishings company dealing with institutional furniture. He plans <br /> to meet with several more furniture companies. Jim recommended involving individuals who work at the <br /> Senior Center in the selection of furniture needs, colors, etc. <br /> Landscaping: Bud Abbott reminded the committee that the brick patio will need to be included in the <br /> landscaping plans. Jean Noussee suggested contacting the Mashpee Garden Club for ideas. Bud <br /> Abbott has the name of a retired horticulturalist that has volunteered to work with the Garden Club on <br /> landscaping plans. The Town will need to be consulted on landscaping because of the.complete lack of <br /> trees that now exists between the Fire Station and the Senior Center site. Also, there will be a need to <br /> 'plant trees to act as a buffer for the property of an abutter whose property is now open and exposed to <br /> the site. <br /> Irrigation: The location of the required well will need to be determined. Also it will need to be <br /> determined what portion of the site will need irrigation. Quotes on pricing the job will be needed. <br /> Decorations: JCA will prepare a color board for the committee's use. Items to be considered will include <br /> colors, rugs, curtains, blinds, and tiles. Jim Long will want to have a say in the decorations and colors <br /> selected. He stated that he wants to stay away from selecting colors that will give the center an <br /> institutional look. There is a science on selection of colors appropriate to senior citizens. Iry suggested <br /> getting an interior decorator involved in this project. He also remarked that the entire committee will want <br /> to have a say in the final decoration decisions. <br /> Three or four bids have been received for the telephone and audio systems. No final decision will be <br /> needed until 3 to 4 months from now. <br /> 2 <br />
