The total amount of the bill was $53,902, with a
5%withholding amount of$2,695.10 deducted. After reviewing the bill, the committee moved
and seconded a motion to approve payment of the bill. The motion was unanimously passed.
The committee agreed that, going forward, meetings would be held the first and third Monday of
each month. Since the construction bills are issued the end of the third week of the month, there
will be ample time for all parties involved to review the bills before the committee's meeting on the
first Monday of the following month.
Site Meetings. Iry reported that Irv, Jim Long, Joyce Mason, Bob Clark and Ernie Virgilio are
attending the site meetings, conducted by JCA. Because the trailer at the site is rather small,
with steps that are not too sturdy, it was agreed that the committee meetings would continue to
be held at Town Hall for the time being.
Location of Electrical Input. The location of both temporary and permanent electrical input is
still unresolved. There is a meeting with NSTAR scheduled for tomorrow at the site.
Site Sign. Joyce Mason reported that the request for a second Senior Center sign to be placed
at Rt. 151 was denied. The reasoning was that it would be unwise during the construction period
to direct visitors back to the site, with heavy construction equiipment in use. The suggestion to
place a thermometer at the Mashpee Rotary is under consideration.
Abutters Report. Bruce Taggart stated that Abutters are no longer able to cut through the site
area to get to Mashpee Commons. He reported that there is a non-English speaking Italian
family currently living in the area having a difficult time, with no means of transportation back and
forth for shopping needs. Jim Long agreed to investigate the situation, and will get more
information on the family from Bruce.
1
