aided by the good weather conditions we have had. The recharge system was inspected. It is
located in the back corner of the building, where drainage goes off the parking lot and gets
distributed so no puddles will collect.
Iry suggested that a good date for a site tour by the committee might be April 5th. By that time
framing of the building will be in process. Ernie reminded the committee that any tour of the site
would require the contractor's permission in advance of the date of the tour. The process would
be to contact Ernie with the request for a tour on a certain date. He would then contact the
Contractor to get approval for the request. Ernie would greet the committee and provide hard
hats for the tour.
Joyce reported that the realignment of the road going from Job's Fishing Rd. into the Senior
Center site would be completed in time for the opening of the Senior Center.
STUDY PROJECTS.
Furnishings. Iry Goldberg reported in Jim Long's absence that the color selections still have not
been received from JCA. Jim feels stymied by the lack of this information. Iry agreed to contact
JCA again to determine the timeframe for receipt of the color, rugs, fabric selections, etc. It is
hoped that they will be received within a few weeks.
Landscaping. Ed Adams now has three individuals who have expressed an interest in becoming
involved in the landscaping of the new Senior Center: Ellis Allen, a horticulturalist who was out of
town for the month of February; Jane Capalati, a Mashpee Garden Club member; and Gail
Barrnett, FMSC member and a reputed"orchid and rose" expert. It is possible that Mashpee
Commons may contract its own landscaper and expand to the Senior Center. Ed will be
contacting the above interested individuals to plan a meeting to discuss landscaping plans. Iry
reminded the committee that a fund contribution from Mashpee Commons would be welcome, but
the landscaping plan would be the responsibility of the building committee.
Security System. This item is presently on hold until Art Weinstein returns from RHCI.
Decorations/Selections: Iry stated that by the end of the month, he hopes to have received
from JCA the information on rugs, fabrics and colors.
Fund Raising. Mert Sapers reported that things are progressing very nicely. Invitations to the
FMSC breakfast on March le at the Senior Center, from 9 AM to 11 AM, have been mailed out.
The purpose of the breakfast is to line up as many volunteers as possible to work on committees
and help raise the fundraising goal of$400,000. Mert stated that the next meeting of the FMSC
was scheduled for Tuesday, March 2nd.
The next meeting of the Senior Center Building Committee was scheduled for Monday, March 15,
2004, at 1:30 PM at the Mashpee Town Hall. Iry remarked that in the future, a site tour may be
scheduled following the building committee meeting.
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 2:15 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
WL
Ina G. Schlobohm
Recording Secretary
1)) .
2
