Discussion followed about wail-mounted versus floor-mounted toilets. The contract calls for wall-mounted toilets. The contractor is checking to determine whether there would be a savings in using floor-mounted units. Bob Clark confirmed that the contract calls for 4" toilet drains with a 1.6 gallon usage,.which should prevent drainage problems. Iry reported that the internal roof drain has been omitted, as it was not needed. JCA will apply a credit for this item. JCA agreed, going forward, to include a copy of the site meeting reports for Jim Long. Harold Klegman asked about the trusses that are designated to be every 16" in the drawings. Bob Clark stated that the trusses are 24" on center. The drawings were never corrected. Regarding the painted shingles, Bob Clark confirmed that the shingles would be dipped prior to installation, 5' to the weather. STUDY PROJECTS. Furnishings. Jim Long reported the formation of a COA in-house sub-committee comprised of himself, Lynne Waterman, and Linda Wicks. They have spoken to three vendors and have book samples from each. Jim is asking for their recommendations, based on what the committee thinks the needs will be for the new senior center. .The sub-committee is meeting again next week. Betty Nichols and Jean Noussee will continue to be involved in the furnishings selection. Iry Goldberg suggested that it might be a good idea to get an interior decorator involved, and mentioned Diana Lannon as a possible candidate. Diana has evidenced interest in assisting with the project. Landscaping. Ed Adams reported that his landscaping subcommittee, comprised of himself, Jane Capelotti (Mashpee Garden Club), Dick Capelotti, and Ellis Allen, a horticulturalist in Mashpee, would be meeting directly after the close of the Building Committee meeting today. Ed reported that although there is a verbal commitment from Mashpee Commons to cover the cost of the landscaping around the new senior center building, the Building Committee needs the commitment in writing. It is yet to be determined who will be donating the shrubs and bushes. Irrigation. Harold Klegman is waiting for the landscaping plans to be finalized, before he can finalize any plans for the underground well location. Security. Harold Klegman agreed to work on this project in the absence of Art Weinstein, until Art is able to resume his assignment on researching security systems for the new Senior Center. Decorations/Selections. Iry stated that JCA is providing color boards and fabric samples within the next couple of weeks. Furnishings and Decorations sub-committee members will work together in the selection of colors and fabrics. Fund Raising. Mert Sapers, FMSC President, announced that the volunteer breakfast on March 13Th was very successful. Mart is meeting today at 3 PM with the individuals who volunteered to assist in the fundraising effort for the Senior Center. Tasks will be assigned to those volunteers who have agreed to help. Mart will give a report at the next Building Committee meeting. Jean Noussee suggested that perhaps Ann Whitlow, Mashpee Archives, would do a tour of historic sites in Mashpee, and include the Senior Center in the tour, pointing out all the services that the Center will be offering to the community. 2
