f „
•
Ms. Crowley stated this is a joke; you are going to do what you
want to do anyway.
Steve Greelish stated the Committee is made up of members who
have not made up their minds. We have a formula for assessment,
we are collecting facts and getting people' s perceptions and
their feelings about it. The other part is dollars and cents .
Mr. Peese asked how much of the wetland will be preserved?
All of the wetland will and must be preserved .
Tom explained this Architect has come up with some sketches,
proposals for siting the school . It has not been designed yet.
The final design will be different - everything is open .
Ms. Hendricks asked why they don 't put the high school towards
Rte 28? Tom explained the terrain is hilly there. There is a
smaller area to be developed . Also, it is near high tension
lines which many parents object to. If the town took the land by_
eminent domain the arts center would not got there. Is that
something the town wants to do?
Michael Hendricks stated he is hearing mostly economic issues.
He is concerned about the environmental issues and the historical
issue. 151 is already being developed. The Center site is a
historical part of the land. It is his opinion and the native
people who lived in this area that they don ' t want to see it
developed.
Mr. Dinizio asked how they propose to preserve it, to leave it
• undeveloped? Is there an action to ask the town to acquire the
land?
Tom stated there is an action to preserve the 151 site - the
proposed national wildlife refuge . The alternative for the
3
