Vwa4
•
Ms . Mills asked how do they propose improving South Sandwich Rd
and who will pay for it, what will the cost be and how can they
avoid the cranberry bog on the corner of Rte 130?
Mr. Franceschi stated it is not within their scope to recommend a
design change for the road and intersection . The traffic
consultant recommended a 4 way intersection with Noisy Hole Rd .
George Green , Meetinghouse Rd . He said the architect has
presented 2 schemes for the center site, will the town be voting
for one of them?
Mr. Dinizio explained the Committee will make a recommendation
for only 1 site .
Mr. Green stated this property is lowland , it is all swamp. In
the second scheme it will not be preserved .
Mr . Franceschi responded there will be a buffer around the
wetland .
Mr. Greelish explained the Committee had two pieces of land which
are oversized . The schematics were to test various placements of
the schools and fields.
It is his personal recommendation , depending upon which site is
chosen , that they restrict the acquisition to the site required
for the high school . He does not think this Committee has the
mandate to acquire all the land .
• Mr. Dinizio stated the previous Committee (EFNC) in their final
report back in February, choose these sites for their ability to
site a future elementary school . We are to build upon that work
and not start from scratch .
Mr. Green said they mentioned cost to bring water may be shared
by neighboring people. Most of us are already paying a water
betterment and we don 't have water. He does not see anyone
paying for it.
Tom Fudala had a letter form D. Rich of the water district. At
this April 's meeting there will be a petition to put a water line
in. There is a well site near Noisy Hole Rd and if the Water
District wants to develop that well they have to build the line
at least one-half way.
Hazel Oakley, 71 Main Street. She is a member of the Mashpee
Historical Commission. At what stage will they do an
archeological study?
Mr . Franceschi stated he did go to the archives to review the
maps. There is some evidence of a J . Pocknet house in this
vicinity. He did talk with the MA historical Commission . Both
sites, if chosen would require an archeological study . They
researched their archives and there is evidence of activity in
the 1800 ' s. Not as much evidence at the 151 site but it is
difficult to predict where people lived hundreds of years ago.
Both sites are near fresh water.
• Shirley Peters, 206 Ashers Path . She thought the matrix was very
well done but it shows the center site is not a superior choice .
5
