• - 1
Mr. Griffin asked what the first years operating costs will be,
• since the high school will not be filled to capacity?
Dr. DeMoura explained the School Committee has not made a
decision yet on how many students will remain in Falmouth .
The Committee tried to approximate what the operating budget will
look like for the high school for the years 1996-2000 . The
numbers will be higher until the school is operating at full
capacity . The issue of operating two schools - Mashpee High
School and tuitioning to Falmouth , has to be addressed .
Dr. DeMoura addressed the issue that the school system is growing
at a rate of 100 students per year and additional classroom space
will be needed . By moving the 7th and 8th grades into the high
school , it is freeing up space in the Middle School for
elementary age students , thus eliminating the need for additional
elementary school space. The high school provides a very
efficient use of space.
Mr. Franceschi suggested a handout for town meeting , in the
format of "questions frequently asked" .
The Committee reviewed the updated matrix presented by Mr.
Franceschi .
Schedule- Tom questioned the wording ; there is no wildlife refuge
review required .
** Mr. Griffin made a motion to adopt this revised matrix
with the change to the wildlife refuge language . Mr.
Greelish seconded the motion .
Discussion :
Mr. Martiros asked wy there was no decibel testing done?
This area is no better or worse than any other area in town , as
eht
is concerned. Flight paths change
far as decibel level g p 9
constantly.
** Motion: All members in favor. **
Mr. Franceschi will bring large posters to be set up and overhead
slides to be used at town meeting. He asked that a power supply
be available and a xerox machine , if necessary.
The Committee discussed improving the schematic designs for the
Center site. They will be clearly labelled "for demonstration
purposes only" . The 151 site 400 foot buffer will be correctly
labelled as a "slope" .
Should the sewage treatment plant be shown on the plan? The
Committee agreed, if the question comes up, to explain the
• permitted site is an option , another option is to site the plant
2
