• time therefore work needs to begin Sept. 94 . That leaves only 9
months of design time. If it isn 't finished on time, the
solution becomes a School Committee problem. There are certain
things that don ' t need to be completed to open the school .
SITE CONSIDERATION
2 . 1 through 2. 5 will be taken care of with the matrix (minus the
scores) .
The Committee would like to hear from all the PTO members, they
may have many considerations and strong reasons for a particular
site. Mr. Griffin stated those reasons may sway his vote. Greg
Taylor stated this is a win win situation and should not be
presented as which site do we "ax" . Present the 2 good sites,
the benefits of each site and ask which site they like best and
why. Mr. Jones is concerned about getting the PTO really hipped
up, getting them strongly on the Committee' s side. This
Committee may have to go back to the November meeting of the PTO.
Janice Mills stated she will give a brief update at the next
Chamber of Commerce meeting on October 19th .
Should the Committee mention the swimming pool?
Mr. Martiros expects Gus Fredericks to report to the Committee
• on how many other towns are interested in participating in this
pool- schools which will pay to use our pool . Ms. Ahlgren does
not think other towns will participate, it can however be used by
more than just students. Swimming pool support should be
„) investigated further.
Peter Dinizio joined the meeting at this time.
The Committee can ask the audience to what degree this building
should be a community center. They can present the list of
Leisure Services items.
Ms. Ahlgren will work with Mr. Jones in preparing the
information.
COST
What information will be presented in terms of cost? The
Committee can explain the State formula without giving a final
figure. Mr. Jones suggested relating figures from recently built
high schools. The Committee thought this would confuse the
people. The Committee will tell them at this time they do not
have the facts.
Mr. Dinizio stated he talked with Selectmen Vacarro about telling
the town the impact this will have on their tax rate. They
• agreed the Committee will need assistance from bond counsel to
determine that. Mr. Dinizio will talk with Mr. Writenhour about
getting assistance.
2
