• extra money .
OPEN FORUM
Janice Mill stated the Committee is scheduled for October 23rd at
the Senior Center. She still needs a formal response from them.
Mr . Jones asked if this is for information gathering or sales?
The Committee agreed it is for both .
Mr. Martiros suggested bringing someone to the meeting to explain
the effect of this project on taxes.
PTO PRESENTATION
The meeting is scheduled for October 7th . Meeting begins at 7 : 00
p.m, the presentation is scheduled for 8: 00- 8: 15 p. m. Ms.
Ahlgren prepared a draft of what may be included in the
presentation. The maps of the sites will be included and the
matrix prepared by DRA.
The Committee discussed the schools population projections chart.
The purpose is to sell the high school , not a future elementary
school . The Committee agreed the graph needs to be simplified to
only show the need for a high school . It should also be self
explanatory. The Committee considered using the table of
projections but thought a graph is more dramatic . They discussed
various options.
• The presentation will include the recommendation of the
educational facilities needs committee. A major factor in their
recommendation was the size of the site - in must include room
for a future elementary school . The need for the elementary
school was very obvious in the projections. This Committee does
not want to be selling a high school and a future elementary
school . During the presentation, when discussing the excess
land, they will say it is being bought now for future
requirements of the town.
Mr. Griffin suggested just using the master plan with the sites
highlighted and the major roads highlighted, not the two
additional site plans, they are not needed . The Committee agreed .
The Committee will begin the presentation with the names of the
Committee members and summary of the EFNC report. The Committee
will tell why a high school is needed ; when, in 1996 ; for how
many, 1 ,000 students at first with room for future expansion .
Ms. Ahlgren will do the presentation . She will use the sketches
prepared by Gary Larson showing the choices at the sites .
Mr. Polito stated the parents will probably ask what the building
will mean to the students , what will it contain. How will it
effect them. The Committee will have to address that.
•
2
